The Windows Phone 7.1 Mango ROM has leaked. The leaked ROM is build number 7629 and was grabbed from the SDK emulator image. One problem with it is that it’s not possible to use it on a WP7 smartphone due to it being x86. Details of where to get the build from and what has been found within so far can be found at XDA Developers.
A quick look at the Mango update reveals that it has updated live tiles which are capable of presenting information far better than before. As well as providing the update to live tiles, Microsoft is also pushing out multitasking with this update. This allows you to switch between apps rather than closing them out to check a message for example.
Internet Explorer 9 will be included in the Mango update and will make browsing quicker than the previous IE that was running. Tests hint at the browser being quicker than iOS, Android and BlackBerry OS although we await a 3rd party test to verify the claim.
Expect to see Mango in the next few months, perhaps in time for when Nokia launches its range of WP7 devices. Also, take a look at the video below to see a demo of what Mango can do:
