Last week we mentioned that the new Xbox 360 slim from Microsoft [MSFT] had done away with the red ring of death and replaced it with a red dot of death.
We now learn that this isn’t quite the case. The red dot represents the Xbox shutting down to prevent it from overheating, which makes it instead, just a warning rather than a death.
It’s good that Microsoft can now detect the problem and do something about it before the Xbox dies. It’s just a shame that they can’t get enough ventilation through the device to prevent that message from ever appearing.
The information comes from the guys at NeoGAF. Via: Engadget
