The Z Pen is a fairly normal looking pen which can be used to write as normal. Once writing has been completed you can then download data from it and have the writing converted to text with OCR.
The Z Pen comes with a USB receiver that sits at the top of your paper. This receiver is responsible for storing every stroke you make on the paper. Once you finish what you are writing you then connect the USB receiver to your PC and software converts it all to text while ignoring the images.
The USB receiver comes with 1GB of storage space which can store tons of pages of content. A 1.2V NiMH battery powers the receiver and it is capable of being charged by USB. The pen is powered by regular button cell batteries which last for about 75 hours.
